Columbus and Central Ohio have a new newspaper.
The Columbus Jewish News, which debuted with a 44-page full-color issue on Aug. 9, brings back a Jewish newspaper to central Ohio.
The paper replaces the 96-year-old Ohio Jewish Chronicle, which published is final issue on July 12.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to connect with the Greater Columbus Jewish community,” said Kevin S. Adelstein, CEO and publisher of the Cleveland Jewish News and president of the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company. “We are proud of the role we play as an independent, community-owned news organization serving the Greater Cleveland Jewish community, and we look forward to interacting with, learning about and covering the Greater Columbus Jewish community.
“We are keenly aware that the Ohio Jewish Chronicle, under [longtime] publisher Stephen Pinsky, was a ‘must read’ for the Jewish community. The newspaper was in his family for more than half of its 96 years. We know we have big shoes to fill, but we are optimistic that the community will embrace our unique style of reporting, which promises to offer something new and different to the growing Jewish community of Columbus, which we look forward to serve.”
Pinsky will remain with the new paper as an advertising consultant.
