Israel’s Security Cabinet on Monday approved the appointment of Eyal Hulata as national security adviser and head of the National Security Council, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Hulata will assume the office on Sunday, August 15.

“Behind Eyal are many years of experience in both the diplomatic and technological spheres. He is a very creative and experienced person who understands the national-security challenges [facing Israel]. I am convinced that he will successfully carry out his office,” said Bennett.

The Cabinet also approved during Monday’s weekly meeting the cancellation of several government ministries: Water Resources, National Digitization, Strategic Affairs, Higher and Complementary Education and the Ministry for Community Strengthening and Advancement. Their areas of activity are to be transferred to various other ministries.
