I will be teaching an Advanced Yiddish class online, March 1- 4, 2021 at YAAANA’S Spring Intensive Yiddish Program.

Description: This class is for students with more than two years of Yiddish language study who can read and discuss literary texts in the original language. We will read literary texts by women writers such as Rokhl Faygenberg, Rokhl Korn and Anna Margolin. Grammar that we will learn will be based on topics that arise from these texts.

Time: Mon-Thurs, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EST (8 a.m. PST, 4 p.m. in the U.K., 5 p.m. in most of Europe, 6 p.m. in Israel), March 1-4

Sheva Zucker is the author of the textbooks Yiddish: An Introduction to the Language, Literature & Culture, Vols. I & II and most recently, Fun Yener Zayt Shvel, a collection of her writings for Afn Shvel magazine. She has taught and lectured on Yiddish language, literature and culture on five continents and has taught Yiddish for over two decades in the Uriel Weinreich Program in Yiddish Language, Literature and Culture, currently under the auspices of Bard College and the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York City. She was the executive director of the League for Yiddish and the editor of its  magazine Afn Shvel from 2005-2020. Her research and translations focus mostly on women in Yiddish literature.
