From Kabul to Queens: the Jews of Afghanistan and Their Move to the United States,’ a new book, on a topic which has not widely been explored, was presented and discussed by the author Sara Y. Aharon at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan on Thursday, November 3, 2011.

Published by the American Sephardi Federation (ASF), the book provides a rare glimpse into the little-known overlooked Jewish community of Afghanistan.

This engaging, innovative book brings to life the history of Afghan Jewry, from its earliest roots to the 21st century. Spanning from the community’s origins-which many Afghan Jews trace to biblical times-to the development of their Jewish communal institutions.

The evening provide the opportunity to meet the author, Sara Y. Aharon, a Ph.D. candidate at New York University. Ms. Aharon earned her B.A. in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University.
