Atlanta’s largest single-day celebration of Jewish culture and community returns to the Georgia Aquarium on January 26, 2020. The 2nd Annual Atlanta Jewish Life Festival promises to bring together over seventy-five different Jewish organizations, artists, food vendors and musicians in an impressive showcase of Atlanta’s flourishing Jewish community.
Last year’s inaugural Atlanta Jewish Life Festival was a huge success with more than 3,500 people in attendance, 83 participating organizations and over 30 sponsors.
“AJLF not only brings together the entire Jewish community, but also serves as a fun and educational experience for all the people of greater Atlanta,” said Michael Morris, AJLF founder and publisher of the Atlanta Jewish Times. “This year, festival goers can expect a variety of kosher foods, foot-stomping music, tons of entertainment for the kids, beautiful Judaica art and the opportunity to meet the organizations and institutions that make our Jewish community great,” he added.
In recent decades, Atlanta’s Jewish community has been booming. According to the Encyclopedia of Southern Jewish Communities, the Jewish population of metro Atlanta was less than 30,000 in 1980. A 2006 survey by the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta indicated 120,000 Jews lived in greater Atlanta, making it one of the top 11 largest Jewish communities in the United States.
