Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed on Wednesday that Israel is concentrating on attacking missile-making sites in Syria.
He asserted that Syrian President Bashar Assad has strong control over the country, according to a Reuters report. Iran-backed Hezbollah played an important role in helping Assad retake much of the country.
Nasrallah said that Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett commented last month that the Israel Defense Forces was pushing Iran out of Syria are false.
According to the report, Nasrallah said Israeli airstrikes in Syria have not pushed either Hezbollah or Iran from the country, and that Israeli claims that their policy was working were “imaginary victories.”
The opposition monitoring organization noted that the attack took place in eastern Deir el-Zour province targeting positions of Iranian and Iran-backed fighters, according to an AP report. Syria’s state news agency reported that the Israeli attack targeted military depots south of Aleppo, but did not mention the strikes killing 14 fighters.
