A large IDF force entered the al-Am’ari refugee camp in Samaria on Monday and began carrying out house-to-house searches to find the attacker who on Thursday fatally wounded Ronen Lubarsky, a 20-year-old Israeli soldier from the elite Duvdevan unit.
Riots broke out in the camp as the soldiers entered, with residents throwing homemade bombs and rocks. Soldiers were forced to respond with riot-control measures. At least 13 Arabs were lightly to moderately injured.
He was transferred to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center, but died of his wounds and was buried in the early-morning hours on Sunday at Jerusalem’s Mount Herzl military cemetery.
Israel’s Hadashot news reported that the army had surrounded a building in which Lubarsky’s attacker is believed to be hiding.
