The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), which represents Jewish Democrats and left-wing, pro-Israel values, announced on Monday its endorsement of 12 additional candidates ahead of the midterms, bringing the total to 58 candidates in crucial House, Senate and gubernatorial races, where the Jewish vote could be key to ensuring Democratic victories.
In this latest round, JDCA has endorsed House candidates Greg Stanton (Ariz.-09), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (Fla.-26), Steven Horsford (Nev.-04), Perry Gershon (N.Y.-01), Max Rose (N.Y.-11), Antonio Delgado (N.Y.-19), Joseph Morelle (N.Y.-25), Mary Gay Scanlon (Pa.-05) and Elaine Luria (Va.-02).
Additionally, JDCA is endorsing gubernatorial candidates Gavin Newsom in California, Stacey Abrams in Georgia and Tom Wolf in Pennsylvania.
“We are thrilled to endorse this slate of strong candidates who represent both Jewish and Democratic values, and we are confident that they will win with strong support from the Jewish community on Nov. 6,” said JDCA executive director Halie Soifer.
The JDCA’s Senate endorsements include Sens. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.).
“These candidates are committed to protecting the environment, ensuring reproductive rights, making quality affordable health care available to every American, ensuring common-sense gun laws, and supporting a strong relationship between the United States and Israel,” said Soifer. “We know from nonpartisan polling that Jews will overwhelmingly support Democrats, and we are confident that the Jewish vote will play a critical role in helping Democrats take back control of Congress in November.”
JDCA’s rival, the Republican Jewish Coalition, also has its slate of endorsed candidates for the House: Young Kim (Calif.-39), Lena Epstein (Mich.-11), Reps. Barbara Comstock (Va.-10), Carlos Curbelo (Fla.-10), Leonard Lance (N.J.-07), Peter Roskam (Ill.-06), Keith Rofus (Pa.-17), Tom MacArthur (N.J.-03), Mimi Walters (Calif.-45) and Erik Paulsen (Minn.-03).
And for Senate, the RJC endorses Sens. Dean Heller (Nev.) and Ted Cruz (Texas), Gov. Rick Scott (Fla.), Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, Mike Braun (Ind.), Rep. Kevin Cramer (N.D.) and West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.
