Westlake residents Mariely and Brett Luengo will host “Latin Night inside the Sukkah” at 7 p.m.
Oct. 8 at Kantina in Cleveland to raise funds for Chabad of Puerto Rico, to go to Hurricane Maria relief efforts. It is in partnership with Kantina and the Cleveland Hillel Foundation.
The event will include a Latin-inspired, kosher dinner by guest chef Ben Seren, owner of Kosher Extreme of Miami, who will use Kantina’s kosher kitchen. Chabad of Westlake is participating and will do blessings in the sukkah.
Mariely Luengo said she moved to Westlake six months ago from Baltimore and said the event came together last minute to raise money for those affected by the hurricane.
“I’m just very lucky to be crazy enough to think this is possible,” she said of putting the event together.
The dinner is free, but donations are encouraged. RSVP is required to friendsofchabadpr@gmail.com, along with confirmation of the number of attendees in the party. Funds raised at the event, and any other donations received by Oct. 15 will be sent to Chabad of Puerto Rico.
Kantina is at 11303 Euclid Ave. Complimentary self-parking is available in the adjacent lot at 11205 Euclid Ave., courtesy of the Church of the Covenant. Kantina is accessible by elevator through the Case Western Reserve University Hillel facility in which it is housed.
