The Abraham Accords Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives organized its second meeting of the Gaza Working Group on July 26.
Reps. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.), Ann Wagner (R-Mo.), David Trone (D-Md.) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) spoke with the top diplomats from three signatories of the 2020 Abraham Accords to discuss plans for rebuilding the region following the war’s conclusion.
Yousef Al Otaiba, ambassador of the UAE, attended, as did his Moroccan counterpart, Youssef Amrani. Bahrain’s Ambassador Sheikh Abdullah bin Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa joined virtually.
“Moving forward, it is imperative that we continue to facilitate these dialogues with global leaders to ensure Gazans can rely on a free and fair democracy,” Trone said.
Schneider said that “the Abraham Accords Caucus remains dedicated to promoting peace for the region and is committed to advancing security and reconstruction in Gaza. Our ongoing dialogue with regional leaders and experts is crucial in shaping effective strategies that will ensure a peaceful and prosperous future for Gaza, and the broader Middle East.”
Wagner said she appreciated the meeting and praised “the role our critical partners can play in ensuring a stable and deradicalized Gaza. Ten months after Hamas’s devastating attack on Israel, I am so heartened to see the Abraham Accords are standing strong.”
