Dr. Steven Field, a clinical assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine and an NYU Langone Health physician, has been elected chairman and president of the Jewish Foundation for the Righteous.
The West Orange, New Jersey nonprofit supports needy, aging Righteous Gentiles financially and, per its site, has provided more than $45 million to some 3,600 rescuers from 34 countries.
Field has studied “extensively” German medicine during the Holocaust, including Nazi medical experiments, according to the foundation. Field “has demonstrated a commitment to supporting our aged rescuers, while furthering educational enhancements not only for future generations of medical professionals, but also Holocaust educators across the country,” stated Stanlee Stahl, the group’s executive vice president.
