Three Syrian soldiers were killed and seven people wounded by an Israeli strike near Damascus on Friday, according to official Syrian media.
Israel launched several missiles from the direction of the Israeli Golan Heights shortly after midnight, targeting a “a number of positions in the vicinity of Damascus,” the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported. The strikes also caused material damage, according to SANA.
“Apparently, a storage site for advanced Iranian weapons was attacked. Secondary explosions are visible in the video. Several were wounded, and activists from a semi-military militia cooperating with the radical Shi’ite axis were killed,” the center reported.
The Saudi Al Arabiya channel reported on Friday that the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Hossein Salami, arrived in Syria for a secret visit last week. The report said the visit was aimed at ensuring the continued entrenchment of Iran on Syrian territory, and to address what Iran views as negative treatment of the militias it backs in Syria at the hands of the Assad regime.
