Thirteen new cases of coronavirus were reported by Israel’s Health Ministry on Sunday, bringing the total number of Israelis infected with COVID-19 to 39.
Of the new cases, seven recently returned from Europe, and six others contracted the virus after coming into direct contact with infected Israelis, according to Ynet. All patients are reportedly in “light condition.”
The ministry was unable to track the source of one of the cases: a 40-year-old patient living in central Israel who had not self-quarantined as he did not know that he was sick. The ministry warned that he may have infected many others without realizing it. This is the first time Israel has not been able to trace the source of a coronavirus infection.
Also on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the country is considering a mandatory 14-day quarantine for all travelers entering the country.
