Protesters clashed with police officers and brought down fences that protected the building.
Police ordered staff to leave the Cannon Building and other offices that flank the Capitol after Trump asked his supporters to demonstrate against the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the November 3 election, which takes place this late in a joint session of Congress.
