Ahead of “Jerusalem Day” and the inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in the capital on Monday, members of Knesset expressed their support for Jerusalem in video by The Israel Project, an organization dedicated to informing the media and public conversation about Israel.
The video claimed that “there are few issues on which most Israeli political parties in Israel agree. One of them is Jerusalem.”
Speaker of the Knesset Yuli-Yoel Edelstein (Likud), Knesset member Aliza Lavie (Yesh Atid), Minister of Justice Stav Shafir (Zionist Union), Knesset member Avraham Neguise (Likud) and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked (Habait Hayehudi) said simply: “Jerusalem is my capital.”
MK Yoav Galant, Minister of Construction and Housing (Kulanu) said: “Jerusalem is my one and only capital.”
MK Itzik Shmuli (Zionist Union) said: “Jerusalem is my beloved capital.”
MK Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) said: “Jerusalem is my capital. Jerusalem is our capital.”
MK Dr. Nachman Shai (Zionist Union) said: “Jerusalem is my capital. I was born here, raised here, spent all my life in this city, and I love it very much.”
MK Oded Forer (Yisrael Beytenu) said: “Jerusalem is my capital. Jerusalem is my soul. I love Jerusalem.”
MK Nurit Koren (Likud) said: “I was born and raised in Jerusalem and Jerusalem is my capital.”
MK Akram Hasson (Kulanu) said: “I belong to the Druze community, and we are loyal to the State of Israel and for that, Jerusalem is my capital.
MK Yehuda Glick (Likud) said: “Jerusalem is my capital. Jerusalem is his capital. The Temple Mount—my house to be the house of prayer for all nations.”
MK Amir Ohana (Likud) said: “For 2,000 years, Jews from all over the world—from Auschwitz to Morocco yearned for the same thing—next year in Jerusalem. Well, next year has come. Jerusalem is my capital.”
MK Ayelet Nachmias Verbin (Zionist Union) said: “Jerusalem is my capital. It’s no wonder that every Jewish person under the chuppahwould say, ‘If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its cunning.’ Jerusalem, my capital.”
MK Rachel Azaria, chair of the Reforms Committee (Kulano), said: “Jerusalem is my capital. Jerusalem is my city. And after 2,000 years that our forefathers could only dream of living here, I have the privilege of raising my family and being former deputy mayor of the city.”
