Israeli soccer star Eran Zahavi was named this year’s most valuable player in the Chinese Super League (CSL) last weekend.

Zahavi, 30, garnered the award after a season in which he scored 27 goals, just one short of the league record.

The Israeli player has a $7 million annual contract with the Chinese team that ends in 2020.

Before playing professional soccer in China, Zahavi spent the majority of his career in Israel with the Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv clubs. He also played briefly in Italy and was the captain of Israel’s national soccer team.
