On Wednesday the Israeli-American Council (IAC) celebrated Israel’s Independence Day by illuminating city halls and other prominent buildings in more than a dozen cities, including New York, Los Angeles and Boston, in blue and white.

The “Light Up the Sky in Blue and White” celebrations were the latest of IAC’s Celebrate Israel events, which build American solidarity with Israel and provide a unique way for American Jews, Israeli Americans and others to connect around their ancestral homeland and community.

“It was powerful display of unity to light up buildings in blue and white from coast to coast,” said IAC Founder and CEO Shoham Nicolet. “For more than seven decades, the American and Israeli people have forged deep cultural, religious, and economic connections. The cities and communities that participated in this celebration of Israel’s independence affirmed the enduring legacy and ongoing importance of this relationship.”

Additional communities that joined IAC’s Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebrations include Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Cleveland; Denver; Orlando, Fla; San Diego; and Tenafly, N.J.
