Last week, Felipe García and  Aarón Cortés, well-known Pastors from Mexico, visited Israel and learned from senior representatives of Keren Kayemet Le’israel-Jewish National Fund of the damage that is being done to forests and agricultural land in the area surrounding Gaza due to the wave of arson kites that began in March.

Upon hearing the extent of the impact that these incendiary kites and balloons have made on the land in southern Israel, the two Pastors insisted on visiting the area and seeing the unfortunate reality for themselves.

KKL-JNF promptly organized a tour that same day, which included an explanation from Danny Ben David, KKL-JNF’s regional director in the Western Negev.

During the tour, the Pastors learned that since the beginning of the arson kite attacks, over 7,500 dunams (about 1850 acres) of forested land has been damaged by over 450 fires.
The Pastors expressed that they had not heard about these developments prior to their visit in Israel.

Following the tour, they announced their intention to donate a significant gift to KKL-JNF to assist in the firefighting and forest rehabilitation efforts in southern Israel.
